How many sessions of hypnotherapy are needed to treat an issue?
Depending on the issue, it can take an average of 2 to 6 (or more) sessions to effectively resolve it.
Where are the hypnotherapy sessions held?
In-person hypnotherapy sessions are held at a central location in Singapore. However, if you are residing outside of Singapore or have extenuating circumstances, arrangements can be made to have the hypnotherapy sessions over video calls instead.
Is hypnosis safe?
Hypnosis and hypnotherapy are safe by nature when performed by certified hypnotists or hypnotherapists, and main dangers will involve everyday physical dangers such as falling off a chair.
Unlike portrayals in media, subjects cannot be “mind-controlled”, and cannot be forced to do anything against their will.
How does hypnotherapy work?
The subconscious and unconscious parts of our mind make up approximately 90% of our mind, while the conscious mind makes up merely 10%. Hypnotherapy involves putting a client into a more highly suggestible state, followed by giving suggestions directly to the subconscious and/or unconscious mind to change erroneous thoughts and irrational emotions.
What can hypnotherapy help with?
Hypnotherapy has a wide range of applications. Some common applications include:
-
Fears, phobias
-
Confidence, motivation
-
Depression, stress, anxiety
-
Anger issues
-
Psychological trauma
-
Weight loss
-
Smoking or other undesirable habits
-
Psychosomatic pain
Note: Clients with certain medical or psychological conditions may require a referral from a medical professional. *Please refer to the Terms and Conditions for more information.
Is it true that strong-willed people cannot be hypnotised?
Contrary to popular belief, having a strong will has nothing to do with how easily a person can be hypnotised. It is true, however, that different people have different degrees of suggestibility. Some who believe they cannot be hypnotised are sometimes easily hypnotised.
In fact, the ones who are not easily hypnotised are individuals with severe learning disabilities or conditions which make it hard for their subconscious minds to comprehend and process suggestions given by the hypnotist or hypnotherapist.
Are the effects of hypnotherapy permanent?
In most cases, the effects of hypnotherapy last indefinitely. Just as a doctor can help us treat a flu, it does not mean that we cannot fall sick again in the future.
However, with a newfound awareness of past issues and how to prevent them, it often helps clients to not relapse.
Is hypnotherapy guaranteed to work?
While hypnotherapy is found to be highly effective for a variety of issues, the effectiveness of hypnotherapy sessions is often determined by a few different factors, including the cooperativeness of the client (i.e. the client has to be cooperative, and must genuinely want to change), the suitability of the hypnotherapist for them, as well as the nature of the client's issue.
Can hypnosis instantly put someone to sleep?
A common misconception is that hypnotists or hypnotherapists put their subjects to sleep, because they often use the word “Sleep!” during hypnotic inductions. A hypnotic trance is, in fact, not sleep. Instead, it can be understood as a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility. During this state, subjects are still fully conscious.
